Edit destination URL anytime

Change the URL your QR code points to without regenerating the image. Since every QR code encodes your short link (not the raw URL), updating the destination is instant and the printed QR code keeps working.

Open the edit drawer from the actions menu on any QR code card to update:

• Destination URL — Change where scans redirect to
• Title — Rename your QR code for easier identification
• Note — Add internal notes for your team
• Tags — Organize QR codes with the same tagging system used for links

Advanced link settings

The edit drawer also gives you access to the same advanced settings available on short links:

• UTM Parameters — Append tracking parameters to your destination URL (Ultra)
• Geotargeting Rules — Redirect scanners to different URLs based on their country or continent (Pro/Ultra)
• Auto-disable — Set a QR code to stop redirecting after a specific number of scans or after a certain date

Actions menu

Every QR code card now has a three-dot menu with quick actions:

• Edit QR code — Open the full edit drawer
• Download — Save the QR code image
• Activate / Deactivate — Toggle whether the QR code redirects or is paused
• Reset statistics — Clear all scan data and start fresh
• Delete — Permanently remove the QR code and its scan history

Deactivate without deleting

Need to temporarily pause a QR code? Toggle it to inactive and scans will stop redirecting. Reactivate it whenever you're ready — no data is lost.

Who can use this?

Dynamic QR codes are available to all users. UTM parameters require Ultra, and geotargeting requires Pro or Ultra. Manage your QR codes at /dashboard/qrcodes.

Never miss a moment. You can now set click milestones on any link and receive an email notification the instant your link crosses a threshold you care about.

What's new?

Milestone notifications

Set specific click targets on your links — like 100, 1,000, or 10,000 clicks — and we'll send you an email as soon as your link reaches each one. It's a simple way to stay on top of how your links are performing without constantly checking your dashboard.

Easy setup

When you edit a link, you'll find a new "Click Milestones" section. Setting up milestones is quick:

• Preset thresholds — Pick from common milestones like 100, 250, 500, 1,000, 5,000, or 10,000 clicks
• Custom thresholds — Enter any number and press Enter to add your own target
• Remove anytime — Click the X on any milestone to remove it

Milestones that have already been reached are highlighted in green so you can see your progress at a glance.

How it works

1. Edit a link — Open any link from your dashboard
2. Expand Click Milestones — Click the section to reveal the milestone editor
3. Add thresholds — Pick from presets or type a custom number
4. Save — Click "Save Changes" and you're done

Once a milestone is reached, you'll get an email with your link name, the milestone crossed, and the current total click count. Each milestone only fires once — no duplicate notifications.

Plan limits

Click milestone notifications are available on paid plans:

• Pro — Up to 5 milestones per link
• Ultra — Unlimited milestones per link

Who can use this?

Click milestones are available to Pro and Ultra subscribers. Set your first milestone by editing any link from your dashboard.

QR codes now have their own analytics. Previously, you had to create a short link first and then select it when creating a QR code in order to track scans. Now, every QR code tracks scans automatically — no extra setup needed.

What's new?

Analytics built into every QR code

Just enter your destination URL when creating a QR code and scan tracking is set up for you. No need to create a short link beforehand or configure anything else.

Dedicated analytics page

Click any QR code card to view its full analytics. You get the same detailed insights available for short links:

• Total and unique scans — See how many times your QR code has been scanned and by how many distinct visitors
• Top country and referrer — Identify where your scans are coming from at a glance
• Scans over time — A bar chart showing scan activity across your selected date range
• Geographic breakdown — Country, city, and continent-level scan distribution
• Device and browser stats — Know what devices and browsers your audience uses
• Referrer breakdown — See which apps and surfaces are driving scans

Simpler creation flow

The creation page has been streamlined. Instead of having to create a short link first and then come back to select it, you now just enter a destination URL and you are done.

Need to move your work to a different account? Resource transfer lets you migrate everything—links, custom domains, QR codes, folders, tags, and more—to another iShortn account in one smooth operation.

What's new?

You can now transfer all your personal workspace resources to any other iShortn user. The transfer process is secure, requiring the recipient to explicitly accept the transfer before anything moves.

What gets transferred

• Links — All your short links, with analytics history preserved
• Custom domains — Your branded domains move to the new account
• QR codes — Dynamic QR codes and their configurations
• Folders — Your organizational structure, merged intelligently

What stays behind

• API tokens — For security, tokens don't transfer

How it works

1. Initiate — Go to Settings and enter the recipient's email address
2. Validate — We check that the recipient exists and has room for your resources
3. Send request — The recipient gets an email with a secure link
4. Accept — They review and accept (or decline) the transfer
5. Done — Resources move instantly, and both parties get notified

The entire process is designed to be safe and reversible until the final acceptance.

Smart merging

If the recipient already has folders or tags with the same names as yours, we merge them intelligently:

• Folders — Links move into the existing folder with the same name
• Tags — Links get associated with the existing tag

No duplicates, no conflicts. Everything ends up organized.

Plan limits respected

Before a transfer can proceed, we verify the recipient's account can accommodate all resources. If accepting the transfer would exceed their plan limits (links, domains, folders), the transfer is blocked with a clear explanation of what's over the limit.

Security features

• 7-day expiry — Transfer requests expire if not acted upon
• Email verification — Only the intended recipient can accept
• Atomic operation — The entire transfer succeeds or fails together
• Decline option — Recipients can explicitly decline, notifying the sender

Who can use this?

Resource transfer is available to all users. Find it in Settings under the Transfer section. You can only transfer resources from your personal workspace—team resources stay with their teams.

Your links can now make smarter decisions. With geotargeting, you can automatically redirect visitors to different destinations—or block access entirely—based on where they're located.

What's new?

When you create or edit a link, you'll find a new "Geotargeting Rules" section. Here you can set up rules that determine what happens when someone clicks your link based on their geographic location.

Rule types

• Country-based — Target specific countries using ISO country codes (e.g., US, GB, DE)
• Continent-based — Target entire regions like Europe, Asia, North America, etc.

Actions

For each rule, you can choose one of two actions:

• Redirect — Send visitors to a different URL based on their location
• Block — Show a "blocked" page with an optional custom message

Conditions

Rules support two conditions:

• Is in — Rule matches when the visitor IS from the selected locations
• Is not in — Rule matches when the visitor is NOT from the selected locations

How to use it

1. Create or edit a link — Go to your dashboard and create a new link or edit an existing one
2. Expand Geotargeting Rules — Click the section to reveal the rule builder
3. Add a rule — Click "Add Rule" and configure your targeting
4. Set the type — Choose between country or continent targeting
5. Select locations — Pick the countries or continents to target
6. Choose an action — Redirect to a URL or block with a message
7. Save — Your geotargeting rules are now active

Example use cases

Regional landing pages

Send US visitors to your US pricing page and EU visitors to your EU pricing page:

• Rule 1: Country is in US → Redirect to yoursite.com/us/pricing
• Rule 2: Continent is in Europe → Redirect to yoursite.com/eu/pricing
• Default: All other visitors go to your main pricing page

Content restrictions

Block access from specific regions due to licensing or compliance:

• Rule: Country is in CN, RU, IR → Block with message "This content is not available in your region"

Localized campaigns

Direct visitors to language-specific content:

• Rule 1: Country is in DE, AT, CH → Redirect to German landing page
• Rule 2: Country is in FR, BE, CA → Redirect to French landing page
• Rule 3: Country is in ES, MX, AR → Redirect to Spanish landing page

Rule priority

Rules are evaluated in order from top to bottom. The first matching rule wins. If no rules match, visitors are sent to the default destination URL.

Analytics

Track how your geo rules perform directly in your link analytics. You'll see:

• Default destination — Clicks that went to your standard URL
• Redirected — Clicks that matched a redirect rule
• Blocked — Clicks that matched a block rule

Switch to the "Geo" view in your analytics chart to see a visual breakdown of how traffic is being routed.

Plan limits

Geotargeting is available on paid plans with the following limits:

• Pro — Up to 3 rules per link
• Ultra — Unlimited rules per link

Who can use this?

Geotargeting is available to Pro and Ultra subscribers. Start targeting your audience by location when creating a new link or editing an existing one.

Your short links just got more powerful. With link cloaking, the destination website appears while your branded short URL stays in the browser's address bar—giving you complete control over how your links look when clicked.

What's new?

When you create or edit a link, you'll find a new "Link Cloaking" toggle. Enable it, and visitors will see your short URL (like go.yourbrand.com/promo) in their browser even while viewing the destination content.

How it looks

Without cloaking:

• User clicks go.yourbrand.com/promo
• Browser shows www.landing-page.com/campaign/summer-2026

With cloaking:

• User clicks go.yourbrand.com/promo
• Browser shows go.yourbrand.com/promo while displaying your landing page

Why this matters

Standard redirects expose your destination URL, which can look unprofessional or dilute your branding. Link cloaking solves this:

• Brand reinforcement — Your custom domain stays visible throughout the user's visit
• Cleaner URLs — Hide long, complex destination URLs with tracking parameters
• Professional appearance — Present a polished, consistent brand experience
• Affiliate marketing — Keep your branded URL visible instead of revealing affiliate links

How it works

When someone clicks a cloaked link, instead of redirecting them to the destination, we display the destination content within a seamless full-screen frame. The short URL remains in the address bar while the visitor interacts with the destination page normally.

Social media crawlers still see your custom metadata (if configured), so link previews work exactly as expected.

Compatibility check

Not all websites can be cloaked. Some sites have security policies that prevent them from being displayed within frames. When you enable cloaking, we automatically check if your destination URL is compatible:

• Compatible — Cloaking will work as expected
• Not compatible — The site blocks framing; you'll see a warning and cloaking will be disabled for that link

Common sites that block framing include banking sites, Google properties, and some social media platforms. If you see a compatibility warning, consider using standard redirects instead.

Editing existing links

Want to add cloaking to your existing links? Open the edit drawer for any link and toggle on "Link Cloaking." The change takes effect immediately—no need to create new links.

Who can use this?

Link cloaking is available exclusively on the Ultra plan. Enable it when creating a new link or by editing any existing link in your dashboard.

Take control of how your links appear when shared on social media. You can now upload custom images and set your own titles and descriptions—making every link share look exactly how you want it.

What's new?

When you create or edit a link, you'll find a new "Custom Social Media Previews" section. This lets you override the default metadata that social platforms like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and WhatsApp display when someone shares your link.

Custom metadata options

• Custom Title — Set a specific headline for your link preview
• Custom Description — Write your own description text
• Custom Image — Upload an image or paste a URL

Image upload

The new image uploader makes it easy to add custom preview images:

1. Click to upload — Select an image from your device
2. Drag and drop — Drop an image directly onto the upload area
3. Paste a URL — Use an existing image URL if you prefer
4. Preview — See exactly how your image will appear before saving

Supported formats include PNG, JPG, GIF, and WebP. Images are stored securely and served from our CDN for fast loading on all platforms.

Why this matters

When you share a short link without custom metadata, social platforms typically show the destination page's preview—which might not represent your brand or campaign. With custom previews, you control the narrative:

• Brand consistency — Use your own branded images instead of random page screenshots
• Campaign messaging — Write compelling titles and descriptions that drive clicks
• A/B testing — Try different preview images to see what performs best
• Clean appearance — Avoid broken or missing previews from pages with poor metadata

How it works

When a social media crawler (like Twitter's or Facebook's) visits your short link, we serve your custom metadata instead of redirecting. The crawler sees your custom title, description, and image—then displays that preview when someone shares the link.

Regular users still get redirected instantly to the destination URL. The custom metadata only affects how the link appears in previews.

Editing existing links

Already have links you want to update? Open the edit drawer for any link and you'll find the same "Custom Social Media Previews" section. Update the metadata anytime—changes take effect immediately.

Who can use this?

Custom social media previews are available to Pro and Ultra subscribers. Start customizing your link previews when creating a new link or editing an existing one.

Custom domains are now more flexible. You can add the same domain to your personal workspace and your team workspaces simultaneously—no more conflicts or workarounds needed.

What's changed?

Previously, each custom domain could only belong to one workspace. If you added links.yourcompany.com to your personal workspace, you couldn't use it in a team workspace (or vice versa). This was frustrating if you wanted to use the same branded domain across multiple projects.

Now, domains work independently per workspace. Add your domain wherever you need it.

How it works

When you add a custom domain that's already registered in another workspace:

1. DNS stays the same — Your existing DNS configuration continues to work
2. Verification carries over — You don't need to re-verify domain ownership
3. Each workspace is independent — Links created in one workspace don't affect another

Example use case

Say you own go.acme.com and want to use it for:

• Personal projects in your personal workspace
• Marketing links in the Marketing team workspace
• Sales links in the Sales team workspace

Now you can add go.acme.com to all three workspaces. Each workspace manages its own links independently.

Important: Link aliases are global

Link aliases remain globally unique per domain. If your Marketing team creates go.acme.com/sale, no other workspace can use that same alias on that domain. This prevents redirect conflicts and ensures every short link works reliably.

When creating links, you'll see an error if the alias is already taken—even if it was created in a different workspace.

Removing a shared domain

When you remove a domain from a workspace, only that workspace loses access. Other workspaces using the same domain continue working normally. The domain is only fully removed from the system when the last workspace removes it.

Who can use this?

Domain sharing is available to all users with custom domain access. In team workspaces, only the team owner can add or remove custom domains—team members and admins can use existing domains but cannot add new ones. Manage your domains at /dashboard/domains.

QR codes just got a major upgrade. You can now customize every aspect of your QR code's appearance—from pixel shapes and marker styles to visual effects and color schemes. Plus, save your favorite styles as presets for instant reuse.

What's new?

The QR code creation page now includes a powerful styling panel with three main sections:

Shape customization

Control the fundamental look of your QR code with these options:

• Pixel Style — Choose from square, rounded, dot, squircle, row, or column patterns
• Marker Shape — Style the three corner markers with square, circle, plus, box, octagon, or random shapes
• Inner Shape — Customize the center of markers with auto, square, circle, plus, diamond, or eye styles

Color options

Make your QR codes match your brand:

• QR Code Color — Pick from preset colors or enter any custom hex value
• Background Color — Set the background to white, light gray, dark, or any color you need

Visual effects

Add distinctive touches to make your QR codes stand out:

• Crystalize — Applies a geometric, faceted look using Delaunay triangulation
• Liquidify — Creates a smooth, fluid appearance with blur-based processing
• Effect Intensity — Fine-tune how strong the effect appears (5-30 range)
• Margin Noise — Add decorative dots around the QR code border with adjustable density

Style presets

Save time by storing your favorite configurations:

1. Create a preset — Style your QR code, click "Save Current Style", and give it a name
2. Apply a preset — Click any saved preset to instantly load its settings
3. Update presets — Modify the style and update the preset when you see changes
4. Delete presets — Remove presets you no longer need with one click

Presets save all styling options: pixel style, marker shapes, colors, effects, and margin noise settings. They're perfect for maintaining brand consistency across multiple QR codes or quickly switching between campaign styles.

Live preview

Every change you make updates the QR code preview in real-time. What you see is exactly what you'll get when you generate the final code.

Who can use this?

Advanced QR code styling is available to all users. Create your next QR code at /dashboard/qrcodes/create.

Team owners and admins can now restrict folder access to specific team members. When a folder is restricted, only permitted members can see the folder and its links on the dashboard.

How it works

By default, all folders are accessible to every team member. You can restrict access to specific members using the new folder settings:

1. Open folder settings — Click the gear icon on any folder card (visible to owners/admins only)
2. Choose access level — Select "All members" for full team access, or "Restricted" to limit access
3. Select members — When restricted, choose which team members can view the folder
4. Save — Changes take effect immediately

What gets restricted

When you restrict a folder:

• Folder visibility — Only permitted members see the folder in the folders list
• Link visibility — Links inside the folder are hidden from the dashboard for non-permitted members
• Direct access blocked — Non-permitted members cannot view, edit, or delete links in restricted folders

Who can manage permissions

Only team owners and admins can configure folder permissions. They also always have access to all folders, regardless of restrictions.

Visual indicators

Owners and admins will see a "Restricted" badge on folders that have access limitations. This helps quickly identify which folders have custom permissions configured.

Unfoldered links

Links that aren't in any folder remain visible to all team members. Only links inside restricted folders are hidden from non-permitted members.

Who can use this?

Folder permissions are available to all team workspaces. If you're using a personal workspace, you won't see the folder settings option since there are no team members to restrict.

Configure folder access from the folders page at /dashboard/folders.

Team workspaces are here. Ultra plan users can now create teams, invite members, and manage shared links, folders, and domains—all in one place.

What are team workspaces?

A team workspace is a separate environment where multiple users can collaborate on the same set of links, folders, QR codes, and custom domains. Each team gets its own subdomain (e.g., your-team.ishortn.ink) and operates independently from your personal workspace.

Creating a team

If you're on the Ultra plan, you can create a team from the workspace switcher in the sidebar:

1. Open the workspace switcher — Click your workspace name in the sidebar
2. Click "Create Team" — Enter a name and slug for your team
3. Start inviting members — Add your colleagues via email

Your team workspace is ready to use immediately after creation.

Switching between workspaces

The workspace switcher in the sidebar lets you move between your personal workspace and any teams you belong to. Each workspace has its own:

• Links and short URLs
• Folders for organization
• QR codes
• Custom domains
• UTM templates
• Tags

Resources in one workspace are completely separate from another.

Team roles and permissions

Every team member has a role that determines what they can do:

• Owner — Full control over the team, including billing, settings, and member management
• Admin — Can manage members and invites, and access all team resources
• Member — Can create and manage links, folders, and QR codes

Inviting team members

Team owners and admins can invite new members:

1. Go to team settings — Navigate to your team's members page
2. Send an invite — Enter the email address and select a role
3. They accept — The invitee receives an email with a link to join

Invites expire after 7 days. You can resend or revoke pending invites at any time.

Who can use this?

Team workspaces are available exclusively to Ultra plan subscribers. If you're on a Free or Pro plan, upgrade to Ultra to unlock team collaboration.

Manage your team at /dashboard/teams/settings once you've created one.

We're excited to introduce UTM parameter support, making it easier than ever to track the performance of your marketing campaigns directly within iShortn.

What are UTM parameters?

UTM parameters are tags you add to URLs to track where your traffic comes from. When someone clicks a link with UTM parameters, those tags are sent to your analytics platform, helping you understand which campaigns, sources, and content drive the most engagement.

Adding UTM parameters to links

You can now add UTM parameters directly when creating or editing any link:

• utm_source — Identify where your traffic comes from (e.g., google, newsletter, twitter)
• utm_medium — Track the marketing medium (e.g., cpc, email, social)
• utm_campaign — Name your campaign for easy identification (e.g., spring_sale, product_launch)
• utm_term — Track paid search keywords
• utm_content — Differentiate between similar content or links in the same ad

When you shorten a link with UTM parameters, they're automatically appended to your destination URL when visitors click through.

How to use it

1. Create or edit a link — Go to your dashboard and create a new link or edit an existing one
2. Expand UTM Parameters — Click the "UTM Parameters" section to reveal the fields
3. Fill in your parameters — Add the relevant UTM values for your campaign
4. Save — Your link is now ready to track campaign performance

Why this matters

With UTM parameters built directly into iShortn, you no longer need to manually construct tracking URLs or use separate UTM builders. Everything is integrated into your link management workflow, making campaign tracking seamless and error-free.

Combined with our existing analytics, you'll have a complete picture of how your shortened links perform across different marketing channels.

We've also added UTM Templates to supercharge your workflow:

• Save time — Create reusable templates for campaigns you run regularly
• Stay consistent — Ensure your team uses the same UTM conventions across all links
• Quick apply — Select a template when creating links to instantly fill in all UTM fields
